Hatch Squat

Hatch Squat.  185#.

After 5/3/1, I debated between doing the Westside Barbell Conjugate Method and one of the squat programs from Mike Burgener's website.  Coach Burgener lists four squatting programs he uses with his athletes: Hatch, Burgener, Rippetoe and volume squat.  The Conjugate method was a little difficult for me to follow, so I decided to go with one of Burgener's recommendations.

I chose to do Hatch since the program incorporated front squats and back squats in each session.  The Hatch squat program is 12 weeks long, two days per week.  The rep scheme and percentages for each session varies.  It is pretty high volume since you'll do ~35-50 squats total, each session.  Check out the template log I made for Hatch squat [xls | pdf | html].  The pattern seems to be heavier on the first day and lighter on the second day.  I modified it a bit though (added work) to fit my wants.

Garam Masala Meatballs

Garam Masala Meatballs

I reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy like meatballs.  In fact, I like them so much, I make them every week.  I eat them as a meal, snack, breakfast, whatever.  They are convenient and the biggest bonus of all: they taste even better as leftovers.

After eating Marvelous Meatballs from Everyday Paleo almost every week for maybe the past eight months, I decided to search Sarah's site for another meatball recipe.  I am also a huge fan of her Curried Meatballs, except I like to make them crock pot style with a lot more sauce.  I came across "Meatballs too tasty for Super Bowl Sunday" recipe and decided to try it.  This is currently my favorite meatball recipe!

My Birthday

Happy Birthday to me.

Happy birthday to me!  I turned 24 years old yesterday.  In a nutshell, I celebrated it by dining at a fancy restaurant, Baume, squatting, drinking a lot of wine and tequila, eating tons of sweets, more drinking, doing more squats and HSPU's hungover, my birthday WOD, and getting caked.  Good times, for sure.
